<div itemprop="description">It is with sadness and peace that we announce the passing of Barrie on December 27, 2016 in Red Deer. He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Elizabeth Bourland of Red Deer, sister Wendy Pelletier, brother-in-law Gary and nephew Nicholas all of Calgary. Other family includes his aunts Doreen McNichol, Ruth Lawrence and Edna McNichol all of Calgary, Merle Hagen of Victoria and many cousins. Barrie was pre-deceased by his mother, Helen Hagen, and father, Mundel Hagen. <br> <br>Barrie bravely suffered the effects of Multiple Sclerosis for over 25 years. The last 4 years Barrie was lovingly cared for by the ladies of Harmony Care Homes of Red Deer. We are deeply grateful for the compassionate and exemplary care he received there. <br> <br>Barrie grew up in Calgary and moved to Red Deer where he was a successful carpenter, real estate broker, agent and owner of home building company Briar Oak Developments. The Falls, in Red Deer was his last project before being confined to a wheelchair. His true passion, after Kathryn was golf. He could be found at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, his second home. <br> <br>A memorial service will be held at Eventide Funeral Home on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at 1 pm. Please no flowers. We are in tough economic times so please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Barrie. <br></div>
