<div itemprop="description">Surrounded by his family, Bill passed into God’s loving care at the Mazankowski Heart Institute on Friday, January 13th. He will be lovingly remembered by Ila, his wife of 36 years; son Jeffrey (Angela); daughter Karla (Adam) and precious grandchild Mikayla. Bill will be greatly missed by his brother Bob (Marilyn) Forbes of Cranbrook,B.C. ; sister-in-law Janice Finlin(Jim); brother-in-law Terry Giebelhaus (Diane); sister-in-laws Shirley and Shauna, Giebelhaus; sister-in-law Barb (Denis) Giebelhaus; sister-in-law Arlene (John) Sokoluk along with 15 nieces and nephews and their families. He also leaves to mourn, his best friend Duane Claerhout, wife Glenda and their four children. <br> <br>Bill was predeceased by his parents Marg and Jack Forbes; father-in-law John Giebelhaus and three brother-in-laws Howard, Dennis and Philip Giebelhaus. <br> <br>Bill was born and raised in Red Deer. His love of travel began at age 20 with a trip to Australia which resulted in five years of working and exploring Southeast Asia and Europe. Upon returning to Red Deer, Bill began his electrical apprenticeship which led to a challenging and rewarding career which included over twenty years with Nova Chemicals and the past five years with Husky Energy. His loving devotion to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. Bill’s sense of humour and ability to tell a great joke and story made him a man who was so well liked by family, friends and coworkers. His ability to inject laughter into a conversation came so effortlessly. Bill’s love of the outdoors played an important part in his life. November was one of his favorite months as he was an avid hunter, an interest that was initiated by his father. <br>No words adequately express the heartfelt gratitude we have for Dr. Welsh and the team of nurses on CCU 5A7 who cared for Bill so gently and compassionately and to the chaplains and music therapist who supported us during our darkest days. <br> <br>A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross St. Red Deer, AB on Saturday, January 21,2016 at 1:00p.m.. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the University Hospital Foundation. <br> <br>University Hospital Foundation <br>Donor Office – Room 1H1.91, WMC <br>8440 – 112 Street, N.W. <br>Edmonton, AB T6G 2B7 <br>Website; universityhospitalfoundation.ab.ca</div>
