<div itemprop="description">Fernand Pitre (Fern) Born Sept 20th, 1933, Blind River, Ont: The Pitre family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Fern on Dec. 18th, 2016, with his family at his side at the Bethany College Side in Red Deer, AB. Fern leaves to mourn his wife Elaine, married for 65 years, son Michael (Margaret) son Terry, son Randy, his loving grand daughters Candice (Paul) Graf, Dawn (Mike) Spittle, grandsons Shawn (Jen) & Scott Pitre, his beautiful great grandchildren Brandon (Whitney) Graf, Ashley, Emma, & Hannah Graf, Lily and Michael Spittle, Andy and Wyatt Pitre, his sister in law Monique Giroux and brother in law Lorne Anderson, his little dog Tia & many friends. <br>Fern was predeceased by his mother & father, sister Irene (Noel) Lafortune, sister Alice (Lawrence) Langlois, brother Girard Giroux, sister in law Annette Anderson, brother in law Frank Carr, mother in law Dolly & father in law Lawrence Anderson. <br>Fern worked for Union Carbide for 35 years. Over years Fern & Elaine & family moved to Montreal , Houston, and Sarnia, Ont. They moved to Red Deer, AB in 1981 and it has become home ever since. Fern played hockey for many years, but once he took up golf, it became his favorite sport of all. He enjoyed his 5 days a week of golf with many, many of his golf buddies. It was a very sad day for Fern when he had to give up golf because of health issues.<br>Elaine and family wish to thank all of the nurses & staff at the Bethany College Side, in Red Deer, for all of the wonderful care, love & compassion shown to Fern since it became his home. The family wishes to thank Dr. McIntyre for his care & compassion shown to Fern over many years. As per Ferns wishes, there will be no funeral service. If friends so desire they can make memorial tributes to the Alzheimer’s Society Unit 1, 5550 45Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1L1 or of one’s choice.<br></div>
