GUMMOW, Margarete (Grace)
1920-2015

Grace Gummow passed away peacefully at Michener Hill Extendicare at the wonderful age of 94 years. Grace is survived by her sister Rose; her three children, Joyce (Burt), Ron (Marg), and Bob. She has six grandchildren; Randy, Daryl, Kim, Jamie, Sarah, and Will. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren. Grace was predeceased by her husband Harvey, her brother Heinz and her sister Gladys. She was born in Germany and came to Canada when she was three years old. She attended the small county school in Willowdale. It was in Willowdale where she met and married the love of her life – Harvey Gummow. Grace had a happy farm life on the Gummow homestead working alongside her husband. She milked the cows, fed the chickens, drove the tractor, and always had delicious hot meals on the table. Grace was an active member of the WMS and Willowdale Zion Presbyterian Church. She was in the church choir and was often heard singing her bible hymns at the kitchen sink. Grace was also very proud of being a volunteer at the RDRH flower shop for more than 20 years. Her family and her friends were her greatest joy. The coffee pot was always on and treats were ready for anyone that walked through the door. Grace will be deeply missed but always in our hearts. A funeral service for Grace will be held on Thursday May 14th, 2015 at 1pm at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Avenue, T4R 3S6 or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by emailing eventide@arbormemorial.com.
