Lillian Rasmussen
August 7, 1924 - January 1, 2017
Lillian passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice on January 1st, 2017. She was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and attended school in Killdeer as well as Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Lillian became a teacher and taught for 5 years in Southern Saskatchewan. She married Clay Rasmussen on April 30, 1945 in Assiniboia. Lillian was an avid painter, which she did not begin until she was in her 60’s. Her artistic abilities were evident through her marvelous paintings, creative gardens, and flawless sewing. She loved games and showed no mercy when playing scrabble and cards. Lillian volunteered in the Grandma’s At Large program at River Glen School for years. She was a founding member of the Delburne United Church Friendship Group as well as a longtime member of the Royal Purple. She loved and appreciated animals, especially horses, cats, and birds. Above all Lillian treasured her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by daughter, Dianne Rasmussen of Red Deer, AB; grandchildren, Capri Rasmussen (Jason) of Calgary, AB, Madeline Sherren (Andy) of Edmonton, AB, Carmen Rasmussen (Ricky) of Edmonton, AB, Curtis Walden of Red Deer, AB, and Clayton Walden of Edmonton, AB as well as four great grandchildren. Lillian is predeceased by parents Art & Maggie Morrison, husband, Clay, brothers Ernest and Eddie, sister Edna, and son Derryl.
A visitation will be held on Thursday January 5th at 7:00pm at Eventide Funeral Chapel with a funeral service on Friday January 6th, 2017 at 2:30pm at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Red Deer Hospice, 99 Arnot Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta.
