She was a war bride, marrying British soldier, Richard Whittle. They began their married life in England, raising their young family, before moving to Canada and settling in Southern Ontario. Before moving to Red Deer, Marlies spent many happy retirement years in Elliot Lake, ON, where she enjoyed the friendly community and beautiful landscape. Marlies loved spending time with family, and especially reunion gatherings with family in Canada and Germany.

Marlies is survived by her children Janet (Michael) O’Brien of Red Deer, AB, Ilona Priede (Ewen MacDonell) of Oshawa, ON, Gary (Deborah) Whittle of Canmore, AB, and Richard (Mary) Whittle, of North York, ON; grandchildren Fiona (Jeff) McCarthy, Sean (Amy) O’Brien, Michael (Kimberley) O’Brien, Marliese Whittle, and Benjamin Whittle; great-grandchildren Desmond, Quinn, Aria, and Vivian; and former husband, Richard Whittle Sr..
