He moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and began working for the Manitoba Telephone System in 1966, retiring as district manager in 2003. He was an avid golfer, loved sailing, playing and coaching hockey, gardening and "puttering". Wayne loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud husband, father, step-father and grandfather. He and Loraie enjoyed their first years of retirement spending their summers sailing on their sailboat at Gimli, Manitoba and winters in Red Deer, AB.
