Noel Waugh
June 18, 1934 - January 12, 2017
It is with great sadness the family of Noel Waugh announce his passing on January 12 , 2017 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.
Noel was born in Feilding, New Zealand and will be sadly missed by many family members and friends on both sides of the Pacific.
Noel will be greatly missed by his loving wife Aileen and he will be sadly missed by his children Peter and his wife Jeanette Waugh of Timaru NZ, Ross and his wife Luz Stella Ovalle of Christchurch NZ, Jillian and her husband Grant Small of Timaru NZ, David and his wife Romy Waugh of Airdrie AB and Andrew and his wife Lori Ann Waugh of Manitoulin Island ON. Noel’s oldest daughter Heather Harris of Pleasant Point NZ predeceased Noel in 2009.
Noel's grandchildren, will also deeply miss him; Melanie, Nicole, Kirstin, James, April, Thomas, Ben, Josh, Heidi, Tim, Anna, William, Sarah and Daniella. Numerous additional family members both in Canada and New Zealand, including many nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandchildren, mourn Noel.
Noel will also be deeply missed by his in-laws, their children and friends both in Alberta and British Columbia.
Before moving to Canada, Noel enjoyed a brief career with the RNZAF as well as significantly contributing to the early pioneering days of New Zealand’s commercial Helicopter Industry as a maintenance engineer and pilot. Later, after moving to Canada and continuing his work on Helicopters, Noel expanded his skills to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at Air Canada where he worked until his retirement.
Noel and Aileen choose Red Deer as their home and settled into retirement life. Noel truly enjoyed helping others and was a fixture in the neighborhood, mowing people’s lawns, doing snow removal (whether you wanted it or not) or helping a neighbor fix something. You have repaid him in kind, and it is with deep respect and thanks we extend our sincere gratitude to all those neighbors, friends and family that have helped Noel & Aileen during these past few difficult months.
The entire family wish to extend our warmest thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff in Units 31 & 32 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, as well as Alberta Health Services Red Deer Home Care, you are all remarkable people and you made a difference in Noel's final journey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Eventide Funeral Home, 4820-45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta.
If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation http://www.rdrhfoundation.com/donate
