It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Albert Georg Naber passed away peacefully on April 6, 2017, at the age of 68 years. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-four years, Hildegunde and his children, Barbara (Joe), Dorothea, David (Amanda), Claudia (Christian), and Monica (Curtis). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Zoe, Caitlin, Sloan, Zachary, and Savanna.

Albert and Hildegunde immigrated from Germany to Elk Point, Alberta in 1976 and made Red Deer their home in 1996. In Elk Point, he was actively involved in 4-H, Minor Hockey, Community Choir and Church Council. He was the Red Deer German Canadian Club President from 2001-2006. Albert loved farming, was a community man and was always willing to help where he was needed.

The family would especially like to thank all of those who supported and cared for Albert during his long illness.

Those who wish to pay their respects may do so on Thursday, April 20th at St.Mary’s Parish, 6 McMillan Ave Red Deer; with a public viewing at noon and Funeral Mass to follow at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Doctors Without Borders (www.msf.ca).

He is Gone
David Harkins

You can shed tears that he is gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want: smile,
open your eyes, love and go on
